‚ÄčHaving a drink with your friends can be a great way to relax after a long day. However, drinking too much can negatively impact both your physical and mental health. Cutting down on alcohol can have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing including;

Increased energy levels: Drinking before bed means that your liver needs to work through the night. This means that your body isn't able to go into a restful sleep.

Improved mood: While alcohol may make you feel good initially, it is a depressant and may lower your mood.

Improved relationships: When you drink alcohol your judgement is impaired and you may say things to friends or loved ones that you regret later.

Tips to cut down on Alcohol consumption:

Only take a certain amount of money on a night out

Schedule at least two alcohol-free days each week.

Make every second drink a non-alcoholic beverage.

Do activities that don't involve alcohol such as hiking or swimming

Drinking Guidelines:

It is recommended that having no more than two standard drinks per day reduces your risk of alcohol related harm.

If you are going out a plan to drink, drinking no more than four standard drinks on a single occasion is recommended.
