New Year New Me

"New year; new me."

Words you've probably heard before. Maybe you've even said them.

But, technically, every day is the beginning of a new year… So, it follows that, actually, every day is a chance to be a new you.

So why do we bother to make New Year's Resolutions then? … Because we need to harness the mystical new year's energy to become a changed, grown, different person you say? Interesting point. But, consider:

1a) Are you different than you were on this day last year? And…

1b) Did you actually need January 1st to change?

I'm going to guess: No. Because none of us do!

So, here are some things to consider before making any "New Year's Resolutions" for next year:

  • -Instead of wasting time on a resolution that might stick for a month or two, spend your time investing in yourself authentically. Try thinking about:
    - What's meaningful to you?
    - What do you value?
    - What are your needs that aren't getting met?
    - What are your needs that are getting met?
    - Who do you want to be in one year's time?

Let's give every new day the credit it deserves. Today counts as a new year too, after-all.
