Support Groups in Adelaide

When you are going through a difficult time, you may often feel alone as though there is no one who can relate or understand what you are going through. However, you do not have to deal with this on your own! Joining in a support group or an activity group, can be a great way to meet people going through their own mental health journey. It also provides a safe and non-judgemental environment in which you can exchange tips and stories, and share wisdom in regards to overcoming life's challenges. This article will discuss several forms of support groups and activity groups that are available for people who live in South Australia and who have a mental health care concern.

Grow provides the opportunity for people going through a difficult time, to meet once a week for a few hours with people going through similar experiences.Grow has helped tens of thousands of Australians overcome mental illness by providing a safe place in which people can participate in programs that offer mutual support and personal development. There are multiple Grow locations in Adelaide, and there is no charge and no need for an assessment/diagnosis to be able to join. MOSH stands for Minimisation of Suicide Harm. Mosh believes in creating opportunities and a safe place for people who need in support of times of crisis. However, it is not just about suicide prevention. MOSH is somewhere you can turn to if you are feeling anxious, depressed, sad, or just want to talk to someone who cares and will listen without any judgement. Mosh also offers a range of activities, workshops, and trainings. MOSH is open six days a week and is completely free to access. There is also no need to book an appointment – just drop in! Diamond House is a community mental health program that supports individuals who have lived through mental illness. Diamond House provides the opportunity to rebuild connections and links with family members, explore new friendships, participate in educational activities, and get help with employment options.   • Skylight Mental Health offers a range of active and social programs that are a great way to get out of the house, explore and try new activities, and meet new people. Skylight offers a diverse range of programs such as cooking, movies, bushwalking, art, and music!
